Alfie likes to be out and about in all weather. When they were staying at Grandma’s house it rained and rained until the lane outside her house turned to mud with a stream running down the middle, and Annie Rose sat down in a puddle.

Alfie has yellow boots. When they were new, Mum painted an L for Left on one, and an R for Right on the other so that he can put them on himself on the right feet. They are excellent for stamping about in mud and walking through puddles – splish, splash, splosh!

When it is too cold and wet to go out, Alfie and Annie Rose play indoors at being explorers, mountaineering on the stairs, pitching tents under the table and crossing fast-flowing rivers. Sometimes they make boats out of cushions and go on a great sea journeys around the living room floor.
